We are pleased to announce a new addition to our team, Amber DelPrete, who will provide key logistical support for our operations and marketing. In addition to her work life, Amber dedicates herself to philanthropic endeavors hoping to make a difference to underprivileged children in Latin America and the Caribbean. Welcome Amber!
Amber shares her last trip to Latin America prior to starting work…
As a new addition to Compass, I am pleased to be a part of a company that is committed to social responsibility. I was lucky enough to be given enough time before my start date to venture to Honduras on a volunteer service trip to visit Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”). “The Ranch”, as it is called in Honduras, is one of nine international homes dedicated to the orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children in the Caribbean and Latin America. This particular home cares for over 400 Honduran children, providing them with a family for life through teaching values of unconditional love, shared responsibility and education. I was afforded the unique opportunity to see this home from the inside, as a good friend of mine is currently volunteering as an English teacher for a two year tenure. Hearing the heart-wrenching stories from these children and witnessing their transformation through a loving environment in their new home, humbled me and reminded me of all I have to be grateful for in my very own life of privilege. So much of who we are is a result of the conditions we were born into. Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos allows for children who were born into difficult circumstances to rise to their true potential through offering a nurturing environment and quality education with the opportunity to pursue a trade or university degree. The orphanage has been built purely from a donation and volunteer base, so NPH requires all children to give back a year or more of service to NPH as an act of gratitude and responsibility.
